Project overview

Newdesy supplied a batch of K-TEK-A420-MTB-KP-FN-DWP stainless steel industrial keyboards for a US aerospace technology enterprise. The project called for a rugged, panel-integrated input solution for engineering environments where precise operation, stable mounting and dependable data entry are important.

To protect customer confidentiality, the company name and program details are not disclosed. The case focuses on the keyboard configuration and the engineering considerations relevant to similar aerospace test, control-room and industrial automation projects.

Integrated input configuration

The keyboard combines the principal operator-input functions in one metal assembly:

This all-in-one format reduces the need for a separate mouse or external pointing device and helps conserve space within an equipment console.

Rear mounting and equipment integration

The rear photograph shows the complete installation side of the keyboard. Threaded studs are positioned around the perimeter so the unit can be secured behind the customer's panel, while metal enclosures protect the keyboard and trackball electronics.

The final equipment designer still needs to confirm the panel cutout, gasket compression, mounting depth, cable bend radius, grounding method and access for service. These details determine whether the keyboard can achieve its intended protection and remain maintainable after installation.

Protection in demanding environments

The rated exposed face provides IP65 static protection against dust and water jets when correctly mounted in the specified configuration. Stainless steel construction also supports frequent operation, routine cleaning and resistance to incidental impact and corrosion in demanding equipment environments.

Project note: IP65 does not mean the complete machine is waterproof, suitable for submersion or automatically resistant to every oil or chemical. Final protection depends on the complete enclosure and installation. Chemical compatibility should be confirmed against the actual cleaning agent, oil or process fluid.

Impact resistance and material claims

The metal front plate, keycaps and trackball assembly provide a vandal-resistant physical design. Where a project requires a formal IK08 rating, aerospace material grade or other defined mechanical standard, the claim must be checked against the corresponding model configuration, material specification and test report before it is included in a customer tender or compliance package.

This model-specific verification keeps the published specification aligned with the unit that will actually be supplied.

Key-switch precision

For this project, the tactile key-switch configuration was selected to provide clear actuation feedback during technical data entry. Gold-contact switch construction can support stable low-level electrical switching, but switch life and contact specification should be confirmed from the approved component and model documentation for each order.

Compliance and project documentation

The supplied unit carries CE, FCC and RoHS compliance markings. Supporting declarations, certificates or test reports can be provided after the exact model, configuration and destination-market requirements are confirmed.

If a project needs additional aerospace, marine, environmental or customer-specific testing, Newdesy can cooperate on engineering review, sample preparation and third-party certification planning. Scope, schedule and cost are evaluated for each project.
